Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) detained 2 arms dealers along with one firearm, one cartridge, and four rocket flares from Hatia upazila of Noakhali on Wednesday.
The detainees are identified as Osman Gani, 55, and his associate Shahed, 52.
Media officer of the BCG Headquarters Lt. Commander Khandaker Munif Taqi confirmed the matter through a press release on Thursday morning.
He said, acting on a tip-off, BCG Hatia station under BCG South Zone, conducted a special drive in the Lohar Pul area near Tomruddi Bazar in Hatia at around 8:00pm on Wednesday.
During the drive, notorious arms dealer Osman Gani, and his associate Shahed, were detained from the area. BCG seized locally made firearm, one cartridge, four rocket flares, and three mobile phones from their possession.
The detained individuals, along with the seized items, were handed over to Hatia Police Station for further legal action, he added.
