Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) members brought back 32 Bangladeshi fishermen from Myanmar on Sunday (January 26). These fishermen disapeared and entered Myanmar waters in two separate trawlers named FB Baklia-1 and FV Zindapir. FB Baklia-1 sailed from Chattagram on January 16 for fishing in the deep sea with 19 fishermen. Three days later, the boat lost all contact with the shore while the engine was disrupted.
Meanwhile, FV Zindapir sailed from Cox's Bazar on January 19 with 13 fishermen and went for fishing in the deep sea. The engine of this boat also disrupted causing the trawler to enter Myanmar water on january 22. Myanmar Navy rescued both the missing trawlers and informed the Bangladesh Consulate in Myanmar at Sitway.
After verifying the nationality of the crew of the two trawlers, Myanmar Navy handed over those 32 fihermen to Bangladesh Embassy in Myanmar. Then Bangladesh Consulate contacted the Bangladesh Coast Guard and requested a speedy transfer process. Later, BCG ship named Syed Nazrul went near the Zero line of Myanmar water border and brought those two trawlers safely inside Bangladesh water along with the 32 fishermen. Shah Zia Rahman confirming the matter said the missing fishermen were brought back safely from Myanmar and handed over to their relatives by Saint Martin Coast Guard Station in the presence of the boat owners.
