BCG assists Mongla admin to implement lockdown

Decision to extend lockdown for one more week in Mongla has been taken by local administration. Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has sent personnel in field to assist district administration to maintain the lockdown properly. 

Personnel of Bangladesh Coast Guard along with police and Ansar have started patrolling the major streets of Mongla from Saturday morning after the decision implied by district administration. Executive magistrates are also conducting mobile courts. Mongla AC (Land) Noyon Kumar has fined several vehicles for ignoring lockdown regulations in the town. Police have put barricades at the entry point of the town. 

Despite of lockdown imposed in the town, pedestrian movement in the down has not decreased. People were seen swarming at the markets in the town. Many of them were seen without masks. Thus, officials fear that the possibility of spreading of Covid-19 may increase. 

Mongla UNO Kamalesh Majumdar informed that the lockdown is to be extended for one week judging the situation.
