Bangladesh Coast Guard ship Shadhin Bangla seized an Indian fishing trawler in Bangladeshi territory with 13 Indian anglers while they were fishing in Bangladeshi coastal area.
Media Officer at Bangladesh Coast Guard Head Quarter, Lieutenant Commander Amirul Haque informed this on Friday noon.
Lt Commander Amirul Haque said that during routine patrol on Thursday night, BCG ship Shadhin Bangla spotted a foreign trawler trying to catch fish at Bangladeshi water. Sensing the presence of authorities, the fishermen tried to flee but after a short chase, BCG ship caught them from 17 mile north-west of Mongla Fairway Bouie.
All those fishermen with the trawler were handed over to Mongla Police Station for further legal process.
Lt Commander Amirul Haque in the press briefing said that such drives of Bangladesh Coast Guard will be continued to curb down the crime rate in coastal areas of the country.
