After Day 1 of the two-day solitary preparation match, Zimbabwe scored 291/7 at BKSP Ground 3 in Savar on Tuesday. For Zimbabwe, Carl Mumba and Ainsley Ndlovu ended the day with scores of 54 and 25 respectively.
For BCB-XI, young spinner and U-19 World Cup winner Shahadat Hossain stole the limelight by scalping three wickets. U-19 World Cup winning pacer Shoriful Islam also bagged one wicket, with skipper Al Amin Hossain grabbing two.
U-19 World Cup winning skipper Akbar Hossain was also selected to play his part in this preparatory match. The BCB XI also included other two Bangladesh Under-19 World Cup winning players -- Mah mudul Hasan and Parvez Hossain Emon.
Earlier, after winning the toss, Zimbabwe skipper Craig Ervine elected to bat first.
The young BCB XI side could not trouble the Zimbabweans, at least not during the first session of the game as the visitors were able to score runs with ease. Openers Prince Masvaure and Kevin Kasuza got the Zimbabweans off to a terrific start.
They had a 105-run partnership for the first wicket stand before skipper Al-Amin broke the magnificent opening partnership by dismissing Masvaure for 45.
After lunch, BCB XI took control of the match and started to show their ascendency over the Zimbabweans. They picked up six wickets in the session and left the Zimbabweans at 183 for six before Tea.
Thanks to spinner Shahadat Hosssain’s terrific bowling display. After that, the Zimbabweans then kept on losing wickets at regular intervals with Shahadat scalping two in the 49th over.
Kasuza, who scored a 130-ball 70, also fell to a run-out just before umpies called for Tea.
After tea, Maruma and Mumba showed some resolute batting but partnership breaker Al Amin struck again to break their 49-run partnership.
