The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) wants to play all the matches which have been postponed due to the Covid-19 situation, said its CEO Nizam Uddin Chowdhury.
Bangladesh’s last international fixture was against Zimbabwe in Dhaka in March this year. After that, the Tigers were scheduled to tour Pakistan for a Test and an ODI. But due to the Covid-19, that part of Pakistan series has been postponed.
Along with this, home series against Australia has also been postponed with the away series against Ireland and New Zealand. The series against Sri Lanka, which is rescheduled to be played in October, had also been postponed. This series was initially slated to be played in July-August.
“A total of four series have been postponed apart from one Test and an ODI against Pakistan. We need a small window to play the part of Pakistan series. We’ll try to play the part of Pakistan series after talking to them,” Nizamuddin told the media on Tuesday.
“We’ve come to the decision to play the New Zealand series in February next year. New Zealand will host four teams early next year, and we’re one of them. We’re also trying to play the series against Ireland and Australia at a convenient time,” he added.
BCB believes it will not be easy to manage a window to play the series against Australia since they will have a tight schedule in the coming year. Nizamuddin, however, said they will manage a window when Australia will be available to tour Bangladesh.
The Tigers are now gearing up for the tour of Sri Lanka where they will play their first three-match Test series in six years. The series will take place in October, and the Bangladesh team will fly for the island nation in the last week of this month.
