The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will release the list of the national contracted players 2021 after watching the performance in the upcoming two series, reports BSS.
Since cricket was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the last year, the BCB was unable to judge the players performance.
Therefore the board would have to rely on the coming two series to determine who will be in the contracted list.
The previous contracted list was released in March, last year, for 01 January – 31 December 2020 period, after which Bangladesh is yet to play any International match.
Bangladesh is set to return to International cricket on January 20, when they take on West Indies in the three-match ODI series. Thereafter they will play a Test series and then will visit New Zealand for an ODI and T20 series.
“We generally give the players a contract after watching their performance every year but last year was halted by the Covid-19 pandemic, so the players didn’t get any chance to show their performance,” BCB Cricket Operations Chairman Akram Khan said on Sunday.
“So we are likely to retain the players who are in the contract, since they had no scope to show their performance and may increase the number to some extent after watching the players’ performance in the coming two series. We’ll discuss it on the board,” he added.
The current contract of the players was expired on December 31, 2020.
During the eighth board meeting, the BCB Board of Directors approved the names of following cricketers in the Central Contractual Players’ list for 2020 (01 January – 31 December 2020 period).
For Red Ball and White Ball: Tamim Iqbal Khan, Liton Kumar Das, Najmul Hossain Shanto, Mushfiqur Rahim, Md Mithun, Taijul Islam, Mehidy Hasan Miraz
For Red ball: Mominul Haque, Nayeem Hasan, Abu Jayed Chowdhury Rahi, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury,
For White ball: Mahmudullah, Saifuddin, Mustafizur Rahman, Afif Hossain, Naim Sheikh
Players excluded from list: Mashrafe Bin Mortaza, Shakib al Hasan, Imrul Kayes, Abu Hider Rony, Syed Khaled Hasan, Rubel Hossain, Shadman Islam
New players in list: Najmul Hossain Shanto, Md Mithun, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Afif Hossain, Naim Sheikh.
