Veteran wicket-keeper batter Mushfiqur Rahim has been awarded by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for making a big contribution to the country's cricket at the international level.

The board has given the former Tiger captain 10 lakh Taka for scoring 14 thousand runs in international cricket including seven thousand runs in ODI format, five thousand runs in Tests and 1500 runs in T20I.

However, Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) will not honor any cricketer in this way anymore as the BCB president Nazmul Hasan Papon said in a national TV channel, "One day Mushfiq was saying to me after finishing the game, you have never given me anything. Hearing this, I also thought, I never gave him anything separately. For that this gift is for him. But if it comes to the media, then everyone will want it. This is the end, I will not give it to anyone else.”

The matter of giving this honorarium to Mushfiq was discussed in the last board meeting.

Apart from this, there was also a discussion about giving financial compensation to Shakib Al Hasan, Litton Das and Taskin Ahmed for their Indian Premier League (IPL) withdrawal for national duties.

“Tamim (Iqbal), Shakib, Mushfiq, Mahmudullah, Mashrafe (Mortaza) are the life of Bangladesh cricket. There were many before and still are. But they have something special. So I thought something should be done for them” he added.
