Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has intensified their focus on youngster to strengthen the pipeline when they are concentrating to the U-19 team as priority basis.
In this respect, this month BCB appointed Naveed Nawaz as the head coach of the youth team. As a total of 39 young cricketers started practice at BKSP under his guidance.
After the practice, after an assessment of performances 28, out of 39 players will be selected for final trial.
Finally, 14 cricketers will be picked up for the Under-19 squad, who will play a three day and four limited matches against UAE.
Meanwhile, UAE scheduled to tour Bangladesh in October to play the three-day match and a four-match limited overs series.
Ehsanul Haque Sejan, selector U-19 team confirmed this to media.
Sejan, former national cricketer said, “UAE U-19 cricket team is coming to Bangladesh in October. They will play a three-day match and four limited overs matches. That is the first series of our youth team.”
“Our main target to select a better team from 28 cricketers,
who will be selected after a trial of 39 players. Hopefully the final squad will be announced by 22-24 or 28 September.”
