Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) appointed former captain of Bangladesh National Cricket Team Habibul Bashar Sumon as the head of the women operations wing. The board ensured the news as press release on Tuesday.

BCB informed that Sumon will perform duties as the head of the women wing.

Meanwhile, director of the BCB and Chairman of Women wing Shafiul Alam Nadel and skipper of Bangladesh women cricket team Nigar Sulatan Joty congratulated Sumon as he took charge as the head of the women wing.

Habibul Bashar Sumon was the men’s teams’ chief selector for a long time and served the team with his best effort. His time ended on December 31 last year and the BCB did not renew his contact as the chief selector of the national team. The board has assigned him with this new role.

After taking the charge, Sumon expressed his reaction. He thinks it is a big challenge.

“I want to develop women cricket in future. So, I have to take all responsibility for the upcoming days,” said former national captain.

“There is a lot of challenge in the women cricket. I have to focus in the Women T-20 World Cup that would be staged in Bangladesh on September-October,” Sumon added.

His main target is to develop women cricket from the grass root level. He has a plan to explore the women cricket everywhere in the country.
