The band 'Bay of Bengal' is set to perform in Kolkata for the first time at the sixth edition of the Moitree Concert. This event, featuring rock bands from Dhaka and Kolkata, will take place on September 15.
Ahtesham Abid, the bass guitarist of 'Bay of Bengal', shared with Bangladesh Post that although they had received previous invitations to perform in Kolkata, this will be their debut performance in the city.
Gen Next has been organizing the Moitree Concert since 2019, showcasing bands from both Dhaka and Kolkata. Bipash Sarkar, the organizer, mentioned that 'Bay of Bengal' will be the only Bangladeshi band performing this year. Kolkata’s rock band 'Ishaan' will also be among the performers.
'Bay of Bengal' released their first album, Nirob Durvikkho ', in 2016. They are currently working on their second album, 'Duitiya', with the first song from the album, 'Ajker Din', released in June last year. The band has gained popularity among the youth with hits like ‘Je Shohore Ami Nei, Jochhona snan, Bishonnotar Gaan
The band was formed on December 26, 2010, in Chattogram and is currently based in Dhaka. The current members include Bakhtiar Hossain (vocalist, guitarist, and flutist), Rakibul Nipu (lead guitarist), Jamilur Rahman Jamee (keyboardist), Abid Pasha (drummer), and Ahtesham Abid (bass guitarist).
This upcoming performance in Kolkata marks a significant milestone for 'Bay of Bengal' as they continue to expand their musical journey.
