In Mirzaganj of Patuakhali, the death of a mason named Abdul Gaffar Shikder (45) was reported after being hit by a battery operated autorickshaw.
The accident happened on the road in front of the fire service station of the upazila around 7:30 pm on Wednesday (July 27). Later at 9:30 pm, he died while undergoing treatment at Barisal Sherebangla Medical College Hospital.
The deceased is the son of Yunus Shikdar of Mirzaganj village of Shikdar upazila.
Eyewitnesses said that he was seriously injured when a battery-powered autorickshaw coming from the direction of Subidkhali bridge hit him while crossing Betagi-Patuakhali highway a little east of Mirzaganj fire service station on Wednesday evening. Later local people rescued him and took him to Upazila Health Complex. As his condition was serious, the doctor on duty sent him to Barisal Sherbangla Medical College Hospital. He died while undergoing treatment there.
In this regard, Inspector (Investigation) of Mirzaganj Police Station Md. Humayun Kabir said that the police were sent to the spot. Necessary legal action will be taken if written complaint is received.
