BASIS vows to keep contributing to build digital Bangladesh

BASIS’s 22nd Annual General Meeting held

Leaders of the Bangladesh Association of Software & Information Services (BASIS) it it's AGM on Saturday expressed to continue it's contribution on the path to build digital Bangladesh. 

BASIS also stressed preparing the nation for the Fifth Industrial Revolution besides facing the challenges of the Fourth Industrial Revolution from now on.   

The 22ndAnnual General Meeting (AGM) of BASIS was held on Saturday at RAOWA Convention center, Mohakhali in Dhaka.

BASIS’s president Syed Almas Kabir presided over the AGM. Shoeb Ahmed Masud, Vice President (Admin) briefed the members about BASIS 2020’s activities through his presentation. 

Mushfiqur Rahman, Vice President (Finance) of the body presented audit report for the year 2019-2020. After the presentation a significant number of members took part in the discussion session and gave their views.

While addressing Almas Kabir said, "our world is now experiencing unimaginable advances of digital technology. In the upcoming days, Artificial Intelligence, Nanotechnology, Quantum Computing, Biotechnology, Robotics, IOT, 5G, 3D printing and fully automated vehicle technology will radically change the world as we know now".  Fortunately, we are on the path of successfully building Digital Bangladesh. We have a long way to go ahead. BASIS, along with its member organizations, continues to play a significant role in this regard to get ready the nation, he added. 

Kabir said the Fourth Industrial Revolution will wipe out many jobs of our labor market that exist now. In this case, we have to prepare from now. We need to Reskilling and Upskilling people of our current labor market so that we can employ them inother sector. 

"For doing this, we have to start working and take initiatives at government and private sector level from now on. We want all IT/ITES business organizations in the country to be a member of BASIS. We want to work with all of you to make an effective contribution to the development of the country's Information and communication technology (ICT) industry", he further said.  

He also highlighted the steps taken by BASIS in the last one year to recover the damaged business in the Covid-19 situation and create a business-friendly environment in his speech. 

“BASIS Digital Shop" launched at the 22ndAnnual General Meeting. Along with BASIS member organizations members and employees, anyone from home and abroad can make purchases from "BASIS Digital Shop" through online and will be able to enjoy special discounts.

Former BASIS presidents, former directors, Standing committee members, Chairmen & Co-chairmen, Farhana A. Rahman, Senior Vice President, Tamzid Siddiq Spondon, Directors of BASIS,  Mustafa Rafiqul Islam Duke, Didarul Alam, Rashad Kabir,  representatives of member organization of BASIS were also present on the occasion.
