Excitement built among the fans, players and the organisers when Bashundhara Kings is going to make a history in the club football of Bangladesh with kicking off in the AFC Champions League as the first team of the country.
Bashundhara Kings will play in the Playoff stage of the top flight club contest the AFC Champions League when the macth will kick off today at the Sharjah Stadium at 7:35pm (local time.
But the only full time sports Channel, T-sports failed to manage to live-telecast the match due to some complications.
Bashundhara Kings, the champions of the Bangladesh Premier League football will face off the challenge of the hosts Sharjah FC in the race to book a place in the Group Stage of the AFC Champions League.
The players of the Bashundhara Kings are eagerly waiting to play the match though they know the challenge will be more than tough to coup with one of the premier teams in the AFC Champions League.
But the Bangladeshi team have to fight against the weather also before the battle against the top opponents.
It will be a big experience for record four times champions of the Bangladesh Premier League to play in the biggest stage of the club football of Asia.
As the assistant coach Mahmub Hossain Roxy, when talking to the Bangladesh Post on Monday over phone said, “Really it’s a great experiences for all of us and a big day for the club football of Bangladesh. Players are worked up and eagerly waiting to play the match.”
Roxy said that it would be very tough for them to face one of the top ranked teams in Asia, who have some World Cup performers and experienced playing in the European clubs.
Right now the temperature of Sharjah is very high which turned unbearable for the Bangladesh players, as Roxy said, “Team condition is good, physically mentally and our preparation, all are going well but the weather of Sharjah is a big concern. It becomes very tough to habituate with this tough condition.”
“Players are suffering much for this weather. It would be better if we could come here a week or five days before to adjust with the enormous hot condition,” Roxy replied to a query.
But despite the huge difference between two teams, Kings’ players, coaches and officials not get any nervous, as they just considered themselves as under dogs and they have no pressure at all.
Roxy said, “You know, once Sharjah FC won the title of this competition, once quarter-finalist, competed in three consecutive editions of the competition, reaching the Round of 16 in 2021.”
“We don’t feel any pressure. It would be pressure for them, as it turned a prestige concern for them, we have noting to loss but they have. We take it as a challenge game and we will play without pressure.”
Roxy informed that though there was an option to register six foreign booters, but have five but due to visa complication could not fill the quota.
“Due to visa complication we could not include a Uzback defender of Rahmatganj. But we have Sheikh Russel’s centre-back from Ivory Coast Dedier and an Uzback national performer Buburback, the centre midfielder, experienced playing in the Champions League,” Roxy detailed about the team.
