Bangladesh Premier League champions Bahshunhara Kings came from behind to have a commendable 2-2 draw in their AFC Cup away match against Mohun Bagan Super Giants on Tuesday.
Held at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneshwar, in the four goals thrilling encounter Bahshunhara Kings snatched a valuable point after a 2-2 draw coming from behind twice.
Bashundhara Kings had to struggle much to go India to play the match when they were bound to inform the AFC all their dilemmas.
However, forgetting all the dilemmas Bashundhara Kings forced the host Mohun Bagan to share points despite taking lead for twice. However, Mohun Bagan took the lead on 29th minute with Dimitrios Petratos make a close range finish from the six-yard box after being set up by Jason Cummings.
Mohun Bagan, who won their last two matches, could not hold on the lead for long as Dortielton of the Bashundhara Kings netted the equalizer just four minutes later. Kings captain Robson Robinho dribbled past two of his marker before to make a through pass in an open space for onrushing Dorielton, who also left behind two defenders with an exciting forward runs and finally fired home with a right footer placing (1-1).
Kings could have the lead on 43rd minute but were unfortunate when a Robson’s powerful effort shattered the cross piece, this time it was an excellent right side move.
After the 1-1 both the hosts and the visitors made a fresh start and Mohun Bagan restored the lead on 54th minute, with Asish Rai scored the goal (2-1).
But the Robinho’s brilliance got Bashundhara Kings equalizer, which helped the Bangladesh champions to snatch an important point.
Bashundhara Kings after trailing by 2-1, became desperate to bounce back and on 70th minute levelled the margin through Robson Roninho.
Robinho, having a cross from his Brazilian compatriot Dorrielton with a brilliant footwork edged past the defenders entered into the box. But the defender Ashish Rai failing to stop Robinho committed a foul inside the danger area and referee did not make any mistake to call for penalty.
Robinho himself took the spot kick and giving no chance to mohun Bagan keeper sent the ball into top corner (2-2).
After obtaining two valuable point Bashundhara Kings remain on the race to move forward into the knockout phase with four points from here outings.
