The first phase of the TVS Bangladesh Premier League football concluded with Bashundhara Kings are predictably leading the points table after wining 10 out of 11 matches.

Abahani Limited completed the first leg on second place followed by the reigning runners up Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club finished on third.

Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, only the team have the credit as the unbeaten in the first phase.

But the defending runners up team though have the solace as being an unbeaten and played some impressive matches including an exciting 3-3 with Bashundhara at their home, won only five and drew six matches.

They will also have to face huge challenges to retain the runners up trophy, as Chittagong Abahai Limited breathing on their neck equaling the tally (21 points).

Almost all the top favourites are on track to secure their expecting spots they want to see them at the end of the league but only Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra are in huge trouble when they could not do well in the first phase.

Sheikh Russel, once the treble winners with winning all three trophies of the domestic competition including the Bangladesh Premier League are in enormous  trouble when they could manage only two wins, suffered five defeats out of 11 outings to finish on eighth in the first leg.

Before winning the last match of the first leg, they were among the three of the bottom sides and were struggling to lift their position to get out from the relegation zone ahead of second phase.

Holders Bashundhara Kings started the league with a disappointing note with a stunning 1-2 defeat in Rajshahi at the hands of Swadhinota Kris Sangha, newcomers in the topflight. Since that the champions triumphed over all the stumbling block, despite facing stiff hurdle in eight matches to cross with full three points.

Bashundhara, though leading the points table with four points ahead to the closest contenders, are not beyond the reach when they had to work hard to escape with full three points and drew two matches apart from an upsetting defeat.

So it is very much clear that huge excitements are waiting for second leg when none of the team will leave any space unchallenged and the title contenders will also have tough time.

Meanwhile, it was not a smooth journey in the first leg for Abahani, as in a bid to regain the league title, apart from a defeat to their Chottagram counter part they were forced to share points in four matches.

But the former hat-trick champions are still in the contest, as the table toppers are not beyond the reach.

Abahani, who are on second position with 22 points are also closely followed by Sheikh Jamal and Chittagong Abahani with 21 points each.

In all respect it is very much expected that the second phase will also very competitive and challenging for the title aspirants and for the bottom sides for avoiding the relegation.

Thankgod of Chittagong Abahni Limited scored highest 13 goals, Robson Robinho of Bashundhara Kings scored 10, Souleymane Diabate of Mohammedan eight, Chenedu Mathew (SK Jamal), Don (Abahani Limited), Kanform (SK Jamal) are among the top scorers scoring seven goals each.
