Bashundhara keep winning run

Bashundhara Kings emerged victorious in their third home assignment with a 4 –3 win against Saif Sporting Club in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League football on Wednesday.

Held at the Bashundhara Sports Complex in the city after the win the table-toppers extended their lead on second place Abhani Limited to six points with two matches remaining of the first leg.

After winning the match Bashundhara made their tally 24 from eight matches when their closest contenders Abahani managed 18 from eight matches.

In day’s other match Abhani Limited shared points with Sheikh jamlam Dhanmondi Club by 0-0 at the Birsreshtha Maitur Rahman Stadium, Munshuganj.

However, the hosts Bashundhara, who fashioned the better chances and had the lion’s share of possession right from the onset of the match.

 Robson Robinho had the first big chance and initiated the scoring when a.first forward raids came down the left through Masuk Meah Jony and Sohel Rana with just three minutes played. It was an ordinary move Sohel Rana made a through pass to advancing Robson who dribbled past a defender before enter into box and just placed the ball into far post (1-0).

Saif Sporting made strong response 15 minutes later after conceding the early goal when they leveled the margin through Mfon Sunday Udoh and tipped off a fighting encounter.

From Asror Gafurov of Uzbekistan having a long ball from the mid-field released it in an open space inside the box, Foysal Ahmed Fahim breaking the off-side-break beat goalkeeper Anisur Rahman Ziku (1-1).

Bashundhara restored the lead on 27th minute when Matin Meah riddled two defenders inside the box before powered home his right footer giving no chance to Saif keeper Shanto Kumar Roy (2-1).

The host looked in desperate mood to increase the tally and could have their third two minutes later but this time a strong effort of Matin Meah on a Robson’s cross denied by a defender and they had to go for break with 2-1 lead. 

But the champions started the second half with same fashion with pressing hard and went very closer to enlarge the margin but on 48th minute Biplu could not just push the ball into net from close distance.

It was Matin Meah’s another fabulous footwork when the forward showed some his brilliance with edging past two of his markers paved way for Biplu Ahmed but the forward’s feeble effort was saved from goal-line on 48th Minute.

Matin Meah, who was overlooked by the newly appointed national coach Cabrera when the Spanish did not call him for upcoming FIFA friendly matches, made the tally for Bashundhara on 55th minute, though it was an easy effort for Matin.

The Saif SC defenders, who were playing passing inside the box, Mating taking the advantage with obtaing the ball possession and did not miss to push the ball into net (3-1).

Saif Sporting trailing by 1-3 bounced back strongly with scoring two successive goals to equalize the margin.
