Bangladesh Cricket Board assigned medical team had taken Covid-19 sample of Fortune Barisal’s opener Tamim Iqbal on Sunday as precaution of corona pandemic, reports Cricfrenzy.

“Fortune Barishal team Captain Tamim Iqbal is quite fine. For the precaution of covid-19 pandemic situation BCB assigned Doctor has been collected his sample in the morning for test,” Fortune Barisal updated media through a WhatsApp text on Sunday.

“When we receive test result will circulate as quick as possible,” the message added.

Tamim was sent to isolation from the dressing room as he had cold symptoms during the match against Beximco Dhaka at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium on Saturday.

The absence of Tamim in the second half of the game that was won by his team to claim a spot in the tournament raised many eyebrows before the opener cleared the air.

From yesterday I was not well and only this morning I was feeling better. After coming back from batting I was feeling very weak and at that point the medical unit of BCB came and assisted me and after assisting me they felt that it won’t be right for me to stay in the dressing room,’’ Tamim was quoted after the game on Saturday.

“They had sent me to isolation and tomorrow I have few test and if it is found out that everything is ok with me than I will be playing in the semi-final,” he said.

Barisal will be taking on Dhaka in the eliminator at SBNS on Monday while Gemcon Khulna will take on Gazi Group Chattogram in the first qualifier afterwards.
