Barisal Airport would be the most modern and up-to-date. And the most beautiful airport in Bangladesh. There is no doubt about it. We are taking the project that the runway of Barisal will be much bigger and the terminal will be the most sophisticated. I will go to the Prime Minister and request for allocation of funds, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism Md Mahbub Ali said that during his visit.
The State Minister said we are working in all the airports of Bangladesh under the leadership and direction of PM. PM is very sincere about Barisal Airport. Under her direction, I will soon start the work of over-laying the runway of Barisal Airport. So that the aircraft has a smooth landing. At the same time, we will undertake a project to increase the runway by 750 feet so that large aircraft can land. Besides, I will take up the work of setting up a new terminal here very soon. All in all, we have a major projector with Barisal Airport.
Bangabandhu had many dreams about the aviation sector of the country. Today PM Sheikh Hasina has come to power, every airport in the country has got a touch of modernity. Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport is being modernized. We planned it after visiting Changi, Hidro, JFK airport. So we may be able to inaugurate a more modern airport in September 2023.
Mahbub Ali further said that the airports of Chittagong and Sylhet have been made international. And since Barisal is in an important position, all the plans will be taken to turn this airport into an international airport. Arrangements will be made in phases to operate large aircraft flights at every airport in the country including this airport.
Work is being done in all the airports in phases so that the aircraft can take off and land 24 hours a day.
The state minister said the PM’s directive was to take steps to ensure 24-hour flight in every airport in Bangladesh. We have taken such measures in many places. However, due to Covid-19, specialized people could not come from abroad, so we could not start even after completing a lot of work. I will do the work at the same time so that the flight can
take off and land in Barisal 24 hours a day.
The development of Barisal Airport is coming to an end, so the airport will be more modern than other airports and more modern than ever.
