In his speech as chief guest, Honorable Agriculture Secretary Mr. Md. Sayedul Islam gave various directions to the scientists of BARI in making research program plans. He said, not only crop production should be increased, safe and exportable crops should be produced. And if we can do this, our export income will increase a lot.

Development of agriculture will not be possible if there is no mechanization in agriculture. But unfortunately, most of the agricultural machinery we are subsidizing up to 30-70% is import dependent. Sustainable agricultural development is not possible using these imported agricultural machinery. The government is subsidizing Tk. 30 thousand crore annually in agriculture sector but we are not able to use it properly. He called on the scientists to invent high nutrient rich crop varieties suitable for adverse environment and to acquire the ability to face the future challenges of agriculture.
