A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI) and Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition (BIRTAN) on Tuesday (October 10, 2023).
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the seminar of BARI, says a press release.
BARI Director General Dr. Debasish Sarker and Executive Director (Additional Secretary) of Bangladesh Institute of Research and Training on Applied Nutrition (BIRTAN) Md. Abdul Wadud signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations.
Chief scientific officer of Training and Communication Wing of BARI Dr. Ashraf Uddin Ahmed and Chief Scientific Officer and Head of Division (C.C) of Postharvest Technology Division Md. Hafizul Haque Khan were present on the occasion.
The event was coordinated by Senior Scientific Officer of Training and Communication Wing Dr. Md. Emran Khan Chowdhury. Scientists and officers from BARI and BIRTAN were also present there. The MoU was signed between BARI and BIRTAN for mutual cooperation to create research areas for researchers and to create joint working opportunities with the aim of increasing technical knowledge and skills among themselves.
It can be noted that BARI, the largest multi-crop research institute in Bangladesh, has so far developed 650 crop varieties and 640 technologies. BARI and BIRTAN will work together for nutrition security of country.
