Bangladesh Academy for Rural Development (BARD), Cumilla has created another example in rural development by organising a component distribution programme during the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic by following proper health hygiene at Natun Hasnabad Char of North Daudkandi in Cumilla on Monday (15 June 2020).
It distributed different on-firm and off-firm components among the beneficiaries of the action research project "Livelihood Improvement of Char Lands People through Adaptation Practices".
Beneficiaries received 1000 ducklings, 625 quails, seed and seedlings of different seasonal vegetable of hybrid variety and 7 maund seed of paddy Aman.
Besides 100 thunder resistant palm and date tree seedlings, a total 3000 of windbreak tree, wood-yielding tree, fruits and medicinal tree seedlings were distributed.
Moreover, 5 sewing machines were handed over among 5 vulnerable widowed women to create rural women entrepreneurs and one BARD invented Kalyan Incubator was given to a beneficiary along with 125 eggs of high yielding profitable variety.
As the representative of the Director General of BARD Md. Shahjahan, Reaz Mahmud, the concerned Project Director, Md. Mosharaf Hossain Bhuiyan, the Assistant Project Director, and the local Union Parishad Member Mr. Parvez Ahmad Faruk were present at the programme.
