BAPI donates medicines to Palestine

The Bangladesh Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (BAPI) on Thursday donated medicines worth Tk4 million to the Palestinian people.

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen handed over the consignment to Palestine Ambassador in Bangladesh Yusuf Ramadan at the state guesthouse Padma. BAPI General Secretary SM Shafiuzzaman was also present.

The foreign minister reiterated Bangladesh’s position on Palestine and said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had donated $50,000 as humanitarian assistance to Palestine.

This support will be continued, he said, adding that Palestine is “our big friend”.

Expressing strong condemnation for the illegal and belligerent actions by Israel, the Foreign Minister earlier said that Israel must end its continued illegal occupation, unlawful settlement activities and annexation.

He had regretted that impunity and subdued response of the international community only emboldened the occupying forces. “The recent ceasefire must not be an excuse for us to cast off the weight of responsibility from our shoulders,” he said at a recent UN meeting.
