Banks to continue operations from 10am to 1pm

Bangladesh Bank has asked all banks to continue their operations on a limited scale from April 28 to May 5 in line with the extension of the lockdown enforced by the government to contain the Covid-19 infections.

Bank clients will be allowed to do banking activities from 10am to 1pm, according to a circular issued by the central bank on Wednesday.

However, branches will remain open till 2:30 pm for completing their regular internal procedures.

The decision of the central bank came hours after the government issued a circular on Wednesday extending the ongoing lockdown for another week beginning from April 28 amid the rise in Covid-19 infections and deaths.

On April 13, Bangladesh Bank issued a circular with similar instructions on banking hours. Then it extended the operation of banks from April 14 to April 21. The central bank further extended the operation of banks from April 21 to April 28.
