The extended activities of banks will continue from 4 pm to 8 pm with special arrangements in areas adjacent to cattle markets of the two city corporations in the capital from today.
On Monday (July 27), Bangladesh Bank issued a circular in this regard and sent it to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of commercial banks. Bangladesh Bank has given this instruction to facilitate the banking transactions of the sacrificial animal traders.
On Friday (July 31), the day before Eid, the bank’s branch in the area adjacent to the said markets was asked to remain open.
Besides, it has been suggested to set up temporary booths at the sacrificial animal markets to ensure adequate security.
According to the circular, on the occasion of Eid-ul-Adha, a large number of traders gather at the cattle markets under the supervision and management of Dhaka North and South City Corporation and a huge amount of cash transaction takes place. Moreover, if a temporary booth of a bank is opened at the cattle market, the cattle traders can avail the assistance of the bank in transacting money from the booth.
Dhaka North and South City Corporation’s branch near sacrificial animal markets will have to continue banking activities (extended from 4 pm to 8 pm) till July 30 under special arrangements. In addition, on the first day of the holiday announced for Eid-ul-Adha, i.e. the day before Eid-ul-Adha (July 31), the branches have been asked to take necessary steps to continue normal banking activities from 10 am to 8 pm.
