The Bangladesh Bank ( BB) has asked directors, managing directors and officials working below these two posts of all banks to submit their complete wealth statements, including  their family business if any, to their respective board of directors for preservation.

A circular relating to this order has been uploaded in the BB's website on Friday.  This circular has also been sent to chairmen and managing directors of banks.

The directives came at a time when the court sought information of the officials of the central bank. The court ordered the BB governor to submit list of officials working with the non-bank financial institutions and money laundering resistance department to the court.

The court sought the information to verify whether there is any patronization or connection of the central bank officials with money plundering and laundering.

The BB in its circular drew the attention to the conditions of the subsection (2) of the section 18 of the Bank Company law, 1991. Statements on business, financial, agriculture, industry and other businesses, address and other information of directors and Managing directors, directors or the chief executives and officials working with positions two posts below of each bank will have to submit to their respective banks at the end of the calendar year by January 20 next year. Statement on family businesses will also be submitted within the stipulated time.

Besides, statement on 2020 can be submitted by February 28, 2021. The submitted statements will have to be placed in the next meeting of the board of directors. The banks must take steps to preserve the statements.

The directives will be effective soon.
