A new trust fund titled “Banglar Rumi Trust Fund” has been established at the Department of Persian Language & Literature of Dhaka University (DU). Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman presided over the function.
Managing Director of Trade Service International Syed Mahmudul Huq handed over a cheque for Tk. 10 lac to DU Treasurer Professor Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed on Wednesday at the Vice-Chancellor’s office to set up this trust fund.
Chairman of the Department of Persian Language & Literature Professor Dr Mohammad Bahauddin, Registrar Probir Kumar Sarker, some other faculty members and representatives from Allama Rumi Society Bangladesh were present on this occasion. Out of the income of this donation every year one meritorious student who will secure the highest CGPA in BA (Hons.) examination from the Department of Persian Language & Literature of DU will be given Gold Medal. Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Akhtaruzzaman thanked the donor and hoped that this Trust Fund would play an important role to equip the students with the non-communal and humanitarian values.
