Nineteen young research enthusiasts from Bangladesh recently participated in the International Youth Research Camp 2025, held in Kathmandu and Pokhara, Nepal. The week-long camp, organized by the Bangladesh Research Society and Dhaka University Research Society, in partnership with Nepal’s International Development Institute (IDI), aimed to promote research collaboration and cultural exchange among youth.
The camp officially began on May 22 with an inaugural ceremony and plenary session in Kathmandu. The following day, participants gathered at the Biman Bangladesh Airlines Kathmandu Office for the first interactive session with airline officials, exchanging views on research and travel experiences.
Participants then traveled to Pokhara, Nepal’s tourism hub, where they took part in a city tour and the Nepal-Bangladesh Friendship Run along the lakeside. A special seminar was organized in collaboration with the Pokhara Research Center, offering a platform for young researchers from both countries to share ideas and explore joint research possibilities.
Returning to Kathmandu, the team visited Kathmandu University for a discussion with the Global Engagement Division, led by Director Dinesh Kafle. The session highlighted the academic and cultural ties between Nepal and Bangladesh and introduced opportunities for student exchange and collaborative research.
Another notable event was a seminar at the National Youth Council, Nepal, where the young researchers were warmly welcomed with traditional ‘khada’ scarves. Later, they visited the Bangladesh Embassy in Kathmandu and met Ikramul Haque Shakil, who recently summited Mount Everest. Acting Ambassador Mohammad Humayun Kabir presented certificates to participants.
S M Sadeq, Director of Bangladesh Research Society (BDRS), expressed gratitude to all partners and participants. He announced plans for larger international research exchange initiatives, calling the camp a milestone for youth-led academic diplomacy and a bright example of how research can bridge borders through friendship and knowledge-sharing.
The closing session took place at ACE Institute of Management, featuring talks by Dr. Ashish Tiwari, Pankaj Pradhananga, and Roshan Gimire, who proposed future international research partnerships.
