Bangladesh has secured the top position among foreign student populations in Malaysia, with more than 200,000 international students currently studying in the country. Known for its modern, multicultural, and peaceful lifestyle, Malaysia attracts students from over 140 countries every year for higher education.

Malaysia’s advanced education system and affordable living have made it one of the most popular study destinations in Asia. The capital city, Kuala Lumpur, has been ranked second among the world’s most affordable cities for students, offering a high quality of life at a low cost.

For Bangladeshi students, Malaysian universities offer a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Admission generally requires 12 years of academic qualification, a minimum CGPA of 3.50 in SSC and HSC, and a 6.5 IELTS score. Popular fields of study include MBA, computer science, data science, medicine, and finance.

Top public universities such as University Malaya (UM), University Putra Malaysia (UPM), University Technology Malaysia (UTM), and International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) offer globally recognized degrees at comparatively low tuition fees. Undergraduate programs range from 9,600 to 137,500 Malaysian ringgit, while postgraduate courses cost between 7,500 and 12,700 Malaysian ringgit.

Applications are accepted twice a year, in June and November. Students need to apply through their chosen universities and later complete visa formalities via EMGS, a Malaysian government service for international students.

After arriving in Malaysia, students must undergo a medical screening, collect their student pass, and obtain an I-CAD card. They can work part-time for up to 20 hours a week during breaks. Scholarships like the Malaysian Government Scholarship and the Malaysian International Scholarship are also available. After graduation, students can apply for an employment pass through their employers, allowing them to work in Malaysia for two to five years.
