Bangladeshi students who have been accepted to study at Romanian universities can now apply for visas at the Romanian embassies in Hanoi, Vietnam, and Bangkok, Thailand. This opportunity is in addition to the Romanian embassy in New Delhi, India.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka confirmed this information on Tuesday, stating that this step would make the visa application process easier for students. Previously, Bangladeshi students could only apply for visas through the Romanian embassy in New Delhi, which often made it difficult for students from Bangladesh due to the travel and processing times involved.
Romania has had a longstanding relationship with Bangladesh, being among the first European countries to recognize Bangladesh's independence in 1971. This recent decision to allow visa applications in Vietnam and Thailand shows Romania’s ongoing commitment to strengthening ties with Bangladesh and supporting student mobility.
In 2022, Romania established a temporary consulate in Dhaka for three months to speed up the issuance of work visas for Bangladeshi citizens. This step highlighted Romania’s dedication to enhancing bilateral relations and providing easier access for Bangladeshi students and workers to move to Romania.
The new visa application options are expected to benefit Bangladeshi students, allowing them to pursue their education in Romania without facing the hurdles of limited visa processing locations. This change reflects the growing cooperation between the two countries and shows Romania’s interest in fostering educational opportunities for Bangladeshi students.
For students, this new process opens doors to further education in Europe and strengthens the connection between Bangladesh and Romania. Students are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity and choose the most convenient location for their visa application process.
