Bangladeshi killed in BSF firing on Roumari border

A Bangladeshi man was shot dead by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Khatiamari border in Roumari upazila of Kurigram on Friday night.

The deceased was identified as Hasinur Rahman alias Fakirjan, 30, son of Abul Hossain of Khatiamari village under Sadar union of Roumari upazila.

According to local and police sources, Hasinur Rahman went to smuggle cows from India through the international border 1082/3S pillar around 12:30 pm on Friday.  

Hasinur was shot in the chest and abdomen by members of the BSF-6 battalion of Kasunimara camp under Mainkarchar police station in Hatsingmari of Assam. 

Injured Hasinur was taken to Roumari Health Complex by his companions at night and the doctor on duty declared him dead.

Upon receiving the news, police brought the body to the police station.  Roumari Police Station OC Muntasir Billah said confirming the news.

Jamalpur BGB-35 Battalion Commander Lt Col SM Azad said he didn’t know anything about the incident.
