Bangladeshi film ‘Gor’ on Oscar reminder list

National Film award winner Gazi Rakayet directorial film titled ‘Gor’ (‘The Grave’) is the first English feature film of Bangladesh that has been shortlisted in the reminder list of productions eligible for the 94th Academy Awards, with 276 other films.This is the first Bangladeshi film to compete in the general criteria in the Oscars.

The director of the film Gazi Rakayet has written the government-funded filmstory, dialogues, and screenplay. The film was released in both Bangla and English on two US-based digital platforms. Rakayet himself portrays the lead role in the film titled ‘Gor’ (‘The Grave’).

Director GaziRakayethimself gave the big news about the film that has taken place in the reminder list of Oscars. On January 21, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences initially announced the names of 276 movieslist which includes director Gazi Rakayet ‘Gor’ (‘The Grave’).

The movie will compete in 14 categories including best film, actor and screen play in the 94th Oscar competition. Gazi Rakayet is very excited to get a place in the reminder list.

Regarding the context Gazi Rakayet said, ‘A total of 276 feature films made it to the reminder list for the 94th Academy Awards. Among 20 categories, The Grave can be considered eligible for 12 categories. About 10,000 noted directors, including cinematographers and film professionals, around the globe will cast their votes from January 27 until February 1. We are expecting to receive the results by February 8.’

The film features DilaraZaman ,Dipanwita, Moushumi Hamid, SushomaSarkar, and ShamimaTusty among others with guest appearances from SM Mohsin and Mamunur Rashid.

 ‘Gor’ (‘The Grave’) is also available on three US-based digital platforms.
