Bangladesh wins gold in Robot Olympiad

Bangladesh has won a gold, two silver and six bronze medals with one technical award in the 21st International Robot Olympiad (IRO) in Thailand. The awardees received the medals around midday on Friday. In the creative category (junior) team Monamie, including Mir Umaima Haque and Abrar Shahid Rahik, bagged the gold medal. Four other bronze medals were won by teams Robo Rangers, Robo Tigers, Robolution and Robo Bangla in the same category, in both the junior and challenge groups.

In the robot-in-movie category (challenge) team Robo Tigers received the silver medal. Team Robust and team Plantibot from challenge group won two more bronze medals in this category. Team Monamie got another technical award in the same category.The other silver medal was won by Rafihat Saleh in the line-following-adventure category (challenge).

A 15-member Bangladesh team participated in the IRO for the second time and received great achievements, Bangladesh Robot Olympiad (BDRO) posted on its Facebook page. The event started on December 16 in Chiangmai, Thailand. Earlier, BDRO selected the team through different activation programs in 50 educational institutions of 25 districts in Bangladesh, where around 4,000 students participated.
