Bangladesh, US Navy launch joint training exercise

Joint Training and Exercise Co-operation Float Readiness and Training (Karat) between Bangladesh Navy and United States Navy has been inaugurated.

 The inaugural exercise was held at the BN Fleet Headquarters in Chittagong on Wednesday.  Commander BN Fleet Rear Admiral SM Abul Kalam Azad inaugurated the exercise through video conference.

Rear Admiral Christopher M. Endall, CTF 76, represented the United States Navy in the joint training and exercise via video conference.  Senior officers of Bangladesh Navy and invited guests who were participating in the exercise among others were present.

 It is learned that the US Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) USS Tulsa and MH-60S helicopters and Bangladesh Navy ships Marine Expedition, Suffix, Durjoy and Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA), specialized units Swades and Naval are participating in the joint training and exercise.

 The main goal of this joint training and exercise is to develop the existing good relations between the United States and Bangladesh Navy.  To enhance the technical capabilities of the navies of both the countries and to acquire theoretical and practical knowledge on advanced technology.  The joint exercise will end on December 9.
