The joint exercise between Bangladesh Army and US Pacific Army Command (USARPAC) titled ‘Exercise Tiger Lightning -2025’ formally concluded at Jalalabad Cantonment, Sylhet on Wednesday.
The event marked the successful conclusion of a week-long series of strategic training and cooperation exercises that began on 24 July 2025.
The event was graced by the presence of GOC, 17 Infantry Division and Area Commander, Sylhet Area and ambassador Tracey Ann Jacobson, Charge d'Affaires of the United States Embassy in Dhaka, as the guests.
Exercise Tiger Lightning-2025 brought together elite units from both countries, with participation from the Bangladesh Army’s Para-Commando Brigade and the Nevada National Guard of the United States.
The exercise was designed to bolster bilateral defence ties, improve operational coordination, and enhance preparedness for complex security scenarios, including counterterrorism, disaster response, and humanitarian assistance.
A total of 100 Bangladeshi para-commandos and 66 personnel from the Nevada National Guard took part in the joint exercise. Over several days, they engaged in a range of tactical and strategic manoeuvres aimed at strengthening responsiveness, coordination, and mutual operational capabilities.
During the ceremony, certificates of achievement were presented to all participants, acknowledging their dedication and successful completion of the training. Additionally, commemorative insignias were distributed as mementoes of participation and cooperation.
The ceremony was attended by key military leaders and dignitaries, including all commanders of the Sylhet region, representatives from the Armed Forces Division, and high-ranking officers from Army Headquarters and the United States Army.
This edition of Exercise Tiger Lightning underscores the deepening military relationship between Bangladesh and the United States. Both nations reaffirmed their commitment to upholding regional and global peace and security through joint training, operational readiness, and strategic trust-building.
The successful completion of Tiger Lightning -2025 is expected to significantly contribute to enhancing the professional capacity of participating forces and foster closer military collaboration between the two nations in the years ahead.
