Bangladesh, UAE ties getting ‘stronger day by day’

Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has said that the relations between Bangladesh and the UAE are becoming “stronger day by day”.

He made the comment when new UAE Ambassador to Bangladesh Abdullah Ali Al Hamoudi called on him at his office on Sunday, the foreign ministry said on Monday.

The minister stated that during the tenure of Ambassador, the bilateral relations would further expand for our mutual benefits.

He deeply appreciated the UAE leadership for transforming the UAE as the role model for development and prosperity. He particularly thanked the leadership for hosting the spectacular arrangement of Expo 2020 Dubai. 

The Ambassador thanked the Foreign Minister for receiving him. He highly appreciated the development of Bangladesh under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

He expressed UAE's interests to scale up the bilateral engagements between the countries.

He underlined the need to enhance cooperation on enhancing trade and investment, air and shipping connection, agriculture, Food Security, floating based solar energy, pharmaceuticals, IT, afforestation, and alliance for mangrove forest.

The Ambassador requested the Foreign Minister for support of Bangladesh during COP 28 to be held in Dubai in 2023.

He also requested cooperation from the Bangladesh Government for operation of Abu Dhabi based Wizz Air between Abu Dhabi and Dhaka/Chittagong as a low-cost airline.

The Foreign Minister listened to the envoy and assured of full cooperation.

He further stressed to strengthen cooperation for food security, energy security and climate change issues between Bangladesh and the UAE.
