The outbreak of Covid-19 has had a negative impact on the labor force globally. The International Labor Organization (ILO) is organising an important negotiation with the member countries in order to find a way to overcome this crisis successfully and effectively.

Bangladesh has been unanimously elected to preside over this discussion.

The negotiations will be chaired by Md Mustafizur Rahman, ambassador and permanent representative of the Bangladesh Permanent Mission in Geneva.

The information was provided through a notification sent from the Bangladesh Mission in Geneva on Friday.

According to the notification, the International Labor Organization (ILO) recently held a long discussion with all its member states in search of inclusive, sustainable and humane ways to reduce the negative impact of the pandemic.

A draft outcome document on Covid-19 has been prepared that contains the result of that discussion. It will be adopted at the 109th International Labor Conference to be held virtually from June 3 to June 19.

Final negotiations will be held before the forthcoming International Labor Conference to seek the views and consent of the member states on the draft Covid-19 outcome document.
