Bangladesh team arrive in Taunton

Bangladesh Cricket team reached Taunton yesterday, to take on West Indies on June 17. Disappointed and frustrated after Tuesday’s match against Sri Lanka was abandoned due to incessant rainfall in Bristol, the Tigers will have two days of rest to revive their spirits before getting back to training.

Bangladesh are now in seventh position on the 10-team table with three points from four matches. They will now have to win at least four of their five remaining matches to stand a chance of making the semifinals. Bangladesh have made progress on the back of consistency from their top five players - Shakib Al Hasan, Mashrafe Mortaza, Tamim Iqbal, Mahmudullah and Mushfiqur Rahim - but in the World Cup's lead-up, the refreshing factor has been the performance of someone like Soumya Sarkar who is in good form.

Shakib, Tamim, Mosaddek, Sabbir, Mithun and Liton did not make the short trip from Bristol to Taunton. They will rejoin the team by tomorrow and it is hoped that the in-form Shakib Al Hasan, who suffered a left-thigh strain during the match against England in Cardiff on Saturday, will be okay to resume practicing. Their World Cup campaign so far has seen them beat South Africa, go close against New Zealand but then fizzled out against England. They were hopeful of beating Sri Lanka if rain had not intervened in Bristol.
