Bangladesh moved down to the 10th place in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Test rankings, which was released yesterday by the World’s cricket governing body, reports BSS.

As per the latest rankings, the Tiger fell behind Afghanistan who played only four Test matches since their elevation as elite cricket nation in 2018.

Afghanistan who won two matches in four including one against Bangladesh, that too in Tigers home den is in ninth place with 57 ratings points. Bangladesh has 55 rating points.

Rashid Khan and company won their Test match against Bangladesh by 224 runs in 2019, despite rain washed out almost three days of the match.

Bangladesh who achieved their Test status in 2000, had already played 119 Tests in which they lost a staggering number of 89 matches. 43 defeats amongst them came by an innings margin.

The Tigers won just 14 matches, among which two are by innings margin and drew 16 Tests. The number told the tale of Bangladesh’s vulnerability in the elite format of cricket.

However the Tigers have the golden chance to leapfrog Afghanistan again in the rankings should they win the upcoming two-match Test series against West Indies at home soil.

As per the latest Test rankings, New Zealand moved to No. 1 spot for the first time, leapfrogging Australia following their 2-0 series sweep over Pakistan.
