Emerging and talented Bangladeshi filmmaker Shareef Onirban has bagged the highest number of titles at the "We Feel Special Awards International Short Film Festival" held in Kolkata. His four short films have been nominated for Best in various categories at the festival.
The movie ‘Investment’, based on the story of Shareef’s rickshaw puller father, won him the title of best director at the festival. His other three short films ‘Cosmopolitan’, ‘Dream Driver’ and ‘Sonar Bangla’ were also nominated for Best Script, Best Art Direction and Best Social Message respectively.
Rajat Talukder’s ‘Ma’ and Agniva Sengupta’s ‘Taratum’ from the Netherlands have been jointly nominated as the best films of the festival.
Organized by ‘We Feel Social Welfare Society’, one of the leading social organizations in India, this international short film festival lasted for about a month and a half. Held online, the festival honors artists from 26 different countries. The winners will be awarded certificates and crests, the organizers said.
Earlier, Shareef Onirban’s short film titled ‘Investment’ was screened at Egypt’s AM Egypt Film Festival and Sylhet International Film Festival, Dhaka University Film Sangsad, Military Institute of Science and Technology, and India’s Siliguri Hall. It was shown at Pine Studio. It is also appreciated in those events.
Shareef Onirban graduated from IER of Dhaka University and is currently working as Audio Video and Documentation Manager in the Second Chance Education Program of the Bureau of Non-Formal Education under the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education.
