Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen has invited Australian companies to invest in Bangladesh taking advantage of an ‘attractive and investment-friendly’ environment.

“Making investment in Bangladesh is much more profitable than any other country in the region,” he was quoted as saying during a phone conversation with his Australian counterpart Marise Ann Payne.

The foreign ministry on Friday said Dr Momen highlighted the 100 economic zones prepared by the government for foreign investors and said the Australian investors can invest there and make profit.

Bangladesh also has 28 Hi-tech parks and a significant number of skilled workforce in the IT sector, he told his counterpart.
Dr Momen also sought cooperation over the Rohingya issue during the telephone talk.

“The future safety will be ensured only if Rohingyas go back to their homeland in Myanmar. Rohingyas aren’t Bangladeshis,” he asserted. “Bangladesh has sheltered them temporarily on humanitarian ground.”
He also urged other countries to come forward to take responsibilities of Rohingya.
