The Bangladesh Reformist Party elected its new leadership in a historic representative assembly held recently in the capital.
A total of 150 councilors from across the country, attended the meeting at Ramna Chinese Restaurant in Dhaka on July 12.
The assembly elected Dr. Nazmul Karim as it's President while Md. Nazmul Alam was elected as the General Secretary of the party.
The newly formed Central Committee (2025-2029) was announced through a voice-vote-based election, which was hailed as a symbol of the party’s internal democracy. Other important positions were also filled during the assembly at the same day.
The meeting vowed to go for organizational reform through restructuring district and upazila committees, strengthening youth and women’s wings, Modernizing membership records via digital platforms.
The meeting also discussed about drafting a new manifesto based on "Good Governance, Transparency, and Equality.", also to enhancing private-sector collaboration to boost employment.
The meeting decided to organize 5 divisional conferences in the next three months, preparing for mass movements against anti-people policies while offering constructive criticism of the government.
The newly elected President of the party Dr. Nazmul Karim stated, "This committee will build an alternative political force to address the nation’s crises."
General Secretary Md. Nazmul Alam said that the goal of the party is to bring the party to the people’s doorstep.
