Bangladesh records highest Covid-19 deaths, fresh cases

Bangladesh on Thursday confirmed 22 more deaths from Covid-19 and 1,773 new cases of coronavirus in yet another record.
Both of those figures were the single-day highest so far.

With this, the death toll from the pandemic surged to 408 and the number of total infections stood at 28,511.
Earlier highest 21 patients died on Tuesday and 1617 new cases were detected on Wednesday.

Additional Director General for Health Prof Nasima Sultana made the disclosure in a virtual briefing and said among the 22 dead, 19 were male and three female.

Ten of them are from Dhaka division, eight from Chattogram, two from Sylhet and one from Mymensingh.
Of them, 16 died at different hospitals, five at their homes and one was diagnosed with the infection after death.
They tested 10,262 samples in 47 labs across Bangladesh.

Of the deceased, two were aged between 11 and 20 years, one between 31 and 40, two between 41 and 50, ten between 51 and 60, thee between 61 and 70, two between 71 and 80, and two other between 81 and 90 years.

Some 395 patients recovered from the virus during the time, increasing the number of total cured patients to 5,602.
Currently, 54,382 people are quarantined across the country – including 4,032 newly-quarantined individuals.
A total of 201,152 people have completed their quarantine course.

Prof Nasima said 154 new individuals suspected of having Covid-19 were put into isolation, bringing the total to 3,897 after 1,966 left.
