Bangladesh U-20 women's football team has arrived safely in Laos and wasted no time getting down to business, holding their first training session yesterday (Sunday) morning. The team, fresh from their recent SAFF U-20 triumph, touched down in Laos on Saturday afternoon after a journey that included a brief stop in Thailand.
Assistant coach Mahbubur Rahman Litu provided an update via a video message from the team's camp, confirming that the entire squad is in good health and ready for the challenges ahead. "We are all well.
Practice will start from tomorrow morning," Litu said. "Please pray for us so we can return with good results."
The team's mission is to secure a spot in the final round of the AFC U-20 Women's Asian Cup, with the qualifiers running from August 6-10. Bangladesh finds themselves in a challenging group with hosts Laos, Timor-Leste, and the formidable South Korea. With the South Koreans widely expected to top the group, the young Tigresses’ primary goal is to finish as one of the top three runners-up from the eight groups to qualify for the main tournament.
Their campaign kicks off on Wednesday against the hosts, a match that is widely considered their most crucial. A win would significantly boost their chances of finishing second. They will then face Timor-Leste on August 8, before concluding their group stage with a tough encounter against South Korea on August 10.
