Bangladesh Navy officer elected chairman of Asia-Pacific Military Forum

Commander Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Rashid, a Bangladeshi Navy officer deputed to the Bangladesh Embassy in Beijing, China has been elected as the Chairman of the Asia-Pacific Regional Committee for 2023. 

The Asia Pacific Regional Forum is made up of 70 military diplomats from 27 countries of the Beijing Military Attaché Corps (BMAC), the central organization of 240 military diplomats from 118 countries posted in China. 

Commander Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Rashid took office on 01 January 2023, while he was elected as the Chairman earlier on 17 November 2022 with the vote and formal support of all members at the formal AGM of Military Diplomats of the Asia-Pacific Region.

Being elected as the chairman, the Bangladeshi officer will represent all countries in the Asia-Pacific region as a military diplomat.

Commander Mostafa is a reputed officer of the Bangladesh Navy. He has participated in various exercises and received various training in military tactics and warfare at home and abroad. 

He was engaged in various challenging and operational duties in Bangladesh and the Navy. In recognition of his bravery and outstanding professionalism in his service life, he has been awarded various honorary medals including Bangladesh Coast Guard Medal, President Police Medal, Suddachar Medal, and various other awards.

Many in the Bangladesh community here in Beijing think his election will brighten the image of Bangladesh and increase its influence in the military and diplomatic circles in China. 

Bangladeshi expatriates are of the view that Mostafa’s better communication with military circles will benefit Bangladesh. 

They believe that by attending regular meetings and seminars, Mostafa can boost the country's military communication and coordination with various companies and organizations in China.
