Bangladesh Navy has set a unique humanitarian example by providing rescue and relief assistance as well as medical services to flood-affected people in different parts of the country.
Sources said Bangladesh Navy has set up a 30-bed temporary 'field hospital' in Fulgazi Upazila of Feni to deal with the health care of flood victims and the spread of different post-flood diseases.
The hospital has a medical team consisting of cardiologist and surgical, anaesthesia, orthopaedic, paediatric and medicine specialists and is providing indoor and outdoor services. Several large and small operations have also been successfully completed in the hospital. Apart from medical care, free medicines, food saline and water purification tablets are being provided to the patients.
Besides, Bangladesh Navy is providing medical services to locals through mobile hospitals in other places of Feni and Paikgachhaupazila of Khulna. Several thousandpeople have already received the medical care while hundreds of people are receiving medical care every day. Besides, relief and rehabilitation activzties are continuing in the flood-hit areas. This humanitarian operation of the Navy will continue until the situation normalises.
