Bangladesh observed a one-day state mourning on Saturday in commemoration of those Palestinians killed in the recent attacks by Israeli forces.
On the occasion, the national flag was hoisted half-mast at all public and private institutions across the country and all Bangladesh missions abroad, as per a notification issued by the Cabinet Division on Thursday.
Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina had made the announcement on the state mourning day on Thursday. The Prime Minister condemned the killings in Gaza.
Meanwhile, special prayers were offered at all the mosques across the country after Jummah prayers and separate prayers were also offered at temples, churches, monasteries and other holy places of worships on Friday seeking eternal peace of the departed souls and quick recovery of the injured Palestinians.
Earlier on Friday, different religious organizations across the country took to the streets to denounce Israel's ongoing assaults on Gaza after Friday's Jummah prayers.
The protestors carried Palestinian and Bangladeshi flags and urged the world leaders, including the United States, to come forward and force Israel to stop such attacks on Gaza and West Bank.
Khilafat Majlis, Islami Andolan Bangladesh, and ordinary citizens marched along various routes following the Friday Jummah prayers.
The demonstrators urged the government to take a firm stance against Israel at the United Nations and called for a boycott of Israeli products, as well as severing ties with nations supporting Israel.
They said that some Western countries, particularly the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada, alongside Germany and France, are openly endorsing Israel's actions. They demanded an end to the terrorist attacks of the Jews on the freedom-seeking Palestinian people.
Meanwhile, Since October 7 Israeli forces have launched thousands of air bombardments in the Gaza Strip, killing at least 3,793 civilians, including more than 1,500 children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.
Some 12,500 people have been injured and more than 1,000 bodies are still trapped beneath the devastated rubble.
In the meantime, as Israeli forces continue to intensify their assault on the occupied Gaza Strip, Amnesty International has documented unlawful Israeli attacks, including indiscriminate attacks, which caused mass civilian casualties which they said must be investigated as war crimes.
The organization spoke to survivors and eyewitnesses, analyzed satellite images, and verified photos and videos to investigate air bombardments carried out by Israeli forces between 7 and 12 October, which caused horrific destruction, and in some cases wiped out entire families.
The organization presented an in-depth analysis of its findings in five of these unlawful attacks. In each of these cases, Israeli attacks violated international humanitarian law, including by failing to take feasible precautions to spare civilians, or by carrying out indiscriminate attacks that failed to distinguish between civilians and military objectives, or by carrying out attacks that may have been directed against civilian objects.
Meanwhile, following Hamas’s unprecedented surprise attack on Israel more than a week ago, much of the international community rushed to voice its concern about the escalation in tensions.
However, as Israel continues to bomb Gaza and attack Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, several governments have started to turn critical of Israel’s actions — some more directly than others.
Many countries in Africa, South America, South-East Asia and South Asia, Central Asia and Europe have strongly denounced the Israeli attacks in Gaza. Leaders of those countries have urged for an immediate end to violence to prevent further casualties.
