Bangladesh making world-class autos

The production of low-cost but  world-class cars in the country is one of the goals of the government.

To achieve this goal, the Ministry of Industry is already formulating a policy for the development of the automobile industry. 

This policy will be helpful for the future development and sustainable development of this industry. Through this, Bangladesh will be elevated to the center of regional automobile industry production by 2030. To achieve this goal, the government is giving utmost importance to the development of the automobile industry.

Industry Minister Nurul Majid Humayun said these while inaugurating Hyundai SUVs manufacturing factory with the titled, ‘Made in Bangladesh’ at Bangabandhu Hi-Tech City in Kaliakair of Gazipur district on Thursday. State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak was present as special guest. 

The world famous motor brand Hyundai’s latest models Tucson, Creta, Starex, Verna and Palisade are now being manufacturing at Bangabandhu Hitech City in Kaliakor, Gazipur. Of which already 100 cars are ready for sale. 

Local engineers of the country are making the cars in a total of 7 lines inside the factory. By assembling the parts of Hyundai Company these cars are producing SUVs there. 

The minister said, “Besides the government, the automobile industry entrepreneurs should also come forward to flourish the industry. Policies will play an important role in the development of the automobile industry. With the combined efforts of all, Bangladesh will be included in the list of car manufacturing countries beyond the boundaries of car assembly countries - this is the expectation of our government.” 

The government is providing all kinds of support to local and foreign investors with emphasis on setting up industrial factories in the country to build a country rich in industries and income by 2041, the minister added. 

State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak said that we are now capable to show our economic self-reliance by manufacturing cars in Bangladesh.

The state minister said, “We can highlight the capabilities of Bangladesh to the world by manufacturing cars and adding parts of Fair Technology-Hyundai Company. By setting up a Hyundai factory in Bangladesh, it was possible to highlight the country’s economic prosperity, capacity and future potentiality. 

Mentioning that this is a milestone for the country’s automobile industry, the state minister also said that this initiative will help build a self-reliant smart Bangladesh by 2041 to meet the growing demand for cars. So, Hyundai and Fair Group will be one of the partners in building Smart Bangladesh.

Fair Technology Director and CEO Mutassim Daiaan said, “We humbly express our pride that we proved Bangladesh’s ability to produce world’s best Hyundai cars. We believe, this is a highly significant milestone of progressing Bangladesh. At this glorious moment we promise to deliver Hyundai SUV- Creta  at a highly competitive and affordable price to our people.” 

He further said that world-standard after sales service and availability of all spare parts at affordable prices have also been ensured.

During the visit, President of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Captain AB Tajul Islam (retd), Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Lee Jang-keun, President of Indian Hyundai Motor Anso Kim, Managing Director of Bangladesh Hi-Tech Park Authority Dr. Bikarna Kumar Ghosh and Fair Group Chairman Ruhul Alam Al Mahbub were present on the occasion.
