‘Bangladesh made revolutionary progress in social service sector’

Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed said the country has made revolutionary progress in the social service sector under the present government. In order to change the destiny of the people of the country, about one and a half crore people have been brought directly under the allowance.

The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting organized on the occasion of the 23rd National Social Service Day at the premises of the Department of Social Services at Agargaon in the capital on Sunday.

State Minister for Social Welfare Md Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru and Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Social Welfare Rashed Khan Menon addressed the function as special guests under the chairmanship of Mahfuza Akhter, Secretary, Ministry of Social Welfare.

The minister said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has brought back the way Bangabandhu has elevated the country to a seat of dignity. The Prime Minister is successful in running the country in all areas. She has been able to change the destiny of 160 million people of the country. The whole world is watching in amazement at how she has made the impossible possible.

The minister said the allocation for the social security sector has increased several times in the last 13 years of this government. About 100 million people are receiving direct benefits and about 50 million people are receiving indirect services. He directed all to work with honesty, devotion and sincerity to continue the progress and success of this sector.

The state minister for social welfare said the department of social services and social service activities were started by Bangabandhu. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is improving the living standards of the backward sections of the society by introducing various allowances.

Rashed Khan Menon MP, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Social Welfare, said that the work of the Department of Social Services has come a long way as compared to the past. Beneficiaries and beneficiaries have benefited a lot as the system of direct delivery of allowances to all beneficiaries has been digitized. The rush of middlemen has taken a lot of time.

Later, the Minister announced the auspicious inauguration of the 23rd National Social Service Day 2022 and handed over a memento of honor among the officials involved in the implementation of GTUP allowance program through mobile banking.
