‘Bangladesh land of communal harmony’

State Minister for fisheries and livestock Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru on Friday said Bangladesh is a land of communal harmony as the people of all faiths are living in the country peacefully for a long time. “Bangladesh has a ‘glaring example’ of communal harmony in the world as people of all faiths and religions have been living together here peacefully and celebrating their respective religious festivals independently amidst harmony” he said.

The state minister made the observation at a discussion meeting on ‘Janmastami’ held at Norosingho Zior temple at Borabazer in Netrakona. Janmastami Celebration Committee (JCC), Netrakona organised the meeting to celebrate the festival marking the birth day of Lord Sree Krisna. Chaired by President of JCC, Netrakona and freedom fighter Subrota Ghosh, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali, MP, Deputy Commissioner Netrakona Main-UL-Islam, Chairman of Netrakona Zila Parishad Prasanta Kumar Ray, Mayor of Netrakona Pourasabha Nazrul Islam Khan, Chairman of Netrakona sader upazila Tafsiruddin Khan and President of Bangladesh Hindu Bouddha Kristian OikKho parishad, Netrakona district unit Sitangsu Bikash Acharjyo.

Later, a Janmastami rally was brought out from the temple which was paraded main roads of the town. Mayor of Netrakona pourasabha Nazrul Islam Khan led the rally.
